Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Neo (“Neo”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Neo Windows application and visit get-neo.com. Neo is designed so that your conversations and API credentials stay under your control whenever possible.
1. Summary
- Chat content and screenshots are processed on your device and sent to the AI provider you configure (currently Venice) using your API key. We do not operate that AI service.
- Your Venice API key is stored only on your computer (local settings). It is not uploaded to get-neo.com.
- Neo may contact get-neo.com to check for software updates. That request can include app version and an anonymous install id so we can estimate daily active installs. Neo does not send chat content or your API key to us.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2. Who we are
Neo is a desktop AI workbench distributed via get-neo.com. For privacy questions, contact: business@get-neo.com.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information stored only on your device
Neo stores data locally under your Windows user profile (typically %LocalAppData%\Neo), which may include:
- Your Venice API key and app preferences
- Window layout and prompt history
- Optional local chat/debug logs generated by the app
This local data stays on your PC unless you choose to send content to an AI provider through the app.
3.2 Update checks
When Neo starts, it may call get-neo.com (for example /update/check.php) to see whether a newer version is available. If an update exists, Neo may show a prompt and link you to the installer download.
The update check may include:
- Application name and version
- An anonymous install identifier (a random value stored only on your device)
We use this to provide updates and to estimate how many installs check in per day. It does not include your API key, chat messages, transcripts, screenshots, or other app content.
3.3 Website (get-neo.com)
When you visit our website or download Neo, our hosting provider may automatically collect standard server logs (for example IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps) for security, reliability, and basic traffic measurement. We do not use third-party advertising trackers on the core product pages as a primary business model.
3.4 Information you send us directly
If you email us (for example at business@get-neo.com), we receive the content of your message and your email address so we can respond.
4. AI provider (Venice) and “bring your own key”
Neo uses third-party AI services that you authorize with your own API key (bring your own key / BYOK). Prompts, images, audio transcription requests, and model responses are sent between your device and that provider according to your use of the app.
Those services are operated by the provider (for example Venice), not by Neo. Their handling of data is governed by their terms and privacy policy. You should review the provider’s documentation before use.
5. How we use information
- Operate and improve Neo and get-neo.com
- Provide software updates and support
- Protect against abuse and maintain security
- Comply with legal obligations
6. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with:
- Service providers that host our website, DNS, email, or infrastructure (processing on our behalf)
- AI providers you choose when you use Neo features that call their APIs with your key
- Authorities if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security
7. Data retention
- On your device: retained until you delete app data, use in-app delete controls, or uninstall and remove leftover folders
- Web server logs: retained by us or our host as reasonably needed for security and operations
- Email correspondence: retained as needed to handle your request and maintain business records
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to a small software project (for example HTTPS for our website where configured). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your computer and your API keys.
9. Children’s privacy
Neo is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. International users
Our website and servers may be located in different countries than you. If you use Neo or visit get-neo.com, information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate.
11. Your choices
- You can stop using Neo and uninstall it at any time
- You can delete local Neo data from your PC (including %LocalAppData%\Neo)
- You can avoid sending content to AI providers by not using those features or by not configuring an API key
- You may contact us to ask questions about this policy
12. Microsoft Store / platform disclosures
If Neo is distributed through Microsoft platforms or related programs, this Privacy Policy is intended to describe our data practices for that distribution as well. Neo’s essential functions (chat, capture, transcription, visualization) process content you choose to provide, primarily on your device and via your configured AI provider. Contact with our servers is limited to website hosting, downloads, and update checks (including anonymous install activity counts) as described above.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Neo or get-neo.com after an update means you accept the revised policy.
